Athames
WHAT IS AN ATHAME?
An athame is a ceremonial ritual knife traditionally used in many Wiccan, Pagan, and ceremonial magical practices. Unlike an ordinary knife, an athame is generally used as a symbolic tool for directing intention and energy during rituals rather than for physically cutting objects.
Athames are commonly used for casting sacred circles, focusing intention, blessing ritual tools, and tracing symbols in the air during meditation or spellwork. Many practitioners reserve their athame exclusively for ritual use, choosing a separate boline for physically cutting herbs, cords, or other materials.
Whether simple or highly decorative, an athame is often considered a deeply personal ritual tool chosen because it resonates with the individual practitioner.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
